Nessa continues her tale of how she became a vampire.

The vampire walked swifter than any human, covering several miles before we approached a cave. He set me on the ground. Then he pushed aside a boulder that would have taken four strong men to move. We entered a dark cave, but he moved without hesitation until a woman called out to him.

“Narice, I have brought you a companion,” he said in a deep, raspy voice, and then dumped me on the ground.

Stunned, but not hurt, when I landed on the floor, I discovered it was covered by several inches of dirt. Terrified because I couldn't see anything, I tried to move away when the woman's hand touched me. I backed into a wall, remaining motionless, shivering until I finally fell asleep.

When I awoke, I heard no noise or movement. I crawled along the floor until I felt the vampire lying with his arms folded across his chest. He and the woman lying next to him were still. I sat back against the wall and cried, unable to believe the nightmare in which I found myself.

I could not shut out the image of my beloved husband with his throat ripped open. Later, I felt disoriented and feverish. There was a throbbing sensation on the right side of my neck. I felt two puncture holes, and I realized he had taken some of my blood. The fever worsened, and I lay on the ground semiconscious for several days.

When the fever passed, I regained my senses. I knew I had changed because I could see in the dark and experienced a craving I couldn't explain.

“Come.” She led me to my bedroom. As Nessa moved me to the foot of the bed, I reached for her. However, she was quicker, putting her arms around my neck and pulling my head toward hers. Her mouth sought mine and we kissed passionately for several moments. She broke off the kiss, stepped back, reached for the bottom of my dark blue merino sweater, and pulled it over my head. Nessa kissed my chest and flicked her tongue over my left nipple, causing me to tremble with pleasure. She unbuckled my pants, dropped them to the floor, and pulled down my briefs. She lowered me to the bed, handling me like a small child, despite my outweighing her by more than seventy pounds.

The idea of farmers chasing vampires with pitchforks and axes is laughable. Soldiers armed with swords, spears. and arrows also posed no threat to the vampire. The vampire is too quick for even several armed men to pierce with a weapon. It medieval times, mortal man killed vampires by finding their resting place and putting a stake through their heart.

With the development of the gun, then the rifle, mortal man had weapons Vampires had to avoid in order to survive. Ordinary bullets cannot kill, or even seriously hurt a vampire, but it takes hours to recover from a bullet wound to the body.. A lead bullet into the heart of a vampire will not kill it, but will leave it in a weakened condition until it is removed. In Neil Benson's vampire novel, Unholy Embrace, the female vampire describes being shot, which was more of a shock than a painful injury.A hardened silver bullet can kill a vampire by hitting its heart or head. If it enters the body without killing the vampire, the vampire is in a state of torment and barely functional. Several silver bullets to the body can kill a vampire. It should be noted, that vampires are difficult targets because of the speed at which they can move.
