Undead Embrace - a vampire horror poem by Neil Benson

A dark poem from a mortal to a vampire lover.

Whenever I run,
wherever I hide,
your dark presence finds me.
It fills me with fear.
It fills me with joy.
I try to resist you,
but my will always fails me.
I am drawn back to you,
across distance and time.
Memories of pleasures,
no mortal could imagine.
Feelings of pain,
no mortal could endure.
My resistance is fading,
closer I come.
Your dark Castle in front of me,
where you've lived for all time.
I go to your chamber
to submit to your will.
Your perfect face before me,
a goddess of death.
Your pale white lips
and dark blue eyes
draw me to your netherworld.
Your mind caresses my cheek
and strokes my body
until I am aflame.
Closer you come,
and I show you my neck.
Ecstasy overwhelms me,
with the sharpest of pain.

The True Story of A Vampire by Count Stenbock Eric - free vampire short story

The True Story of A Vampire by Count Stenbock Eric shows that vampires are not always what they appear to be, nor are their appearances uniformly the same. However, they inevitably inflict destruction on the people and families that encounter them. This is one man's tale of how a vampire entity enters his, and his family's life to their utter dismay.

Wizard Under Fire a Novella by Neil Benson

I recently completed the last chapter of a first draft for my novella "Wizard under Fire." The story is about a 26 year-old female wizard, Athena Weitz, who works for the Department Of Homeland Security to prevent terrorists, and most especially terrorist wizards, from completing missions in this country. Athena, Tena, is partnered with Ramón Gonzalez, a Special Forces Captain, to form a "Ghost Team." They on the "real deal"  because Tena can create a shield that makes them invisible to the human eye and even radar. The story takes the reader from the time Tena finds out she has the potential to be a wizard to when she and Ramón fight terrorist wizards to prevent them from blowing up chemical tanks that could cause tens of thousands of deaths.

As I polish each chapter, I will post a link to it. My original intent was to write an 80,000 to 90,000-word novel. However, when I reached 60,000 words I realized there were too many "slow" chapters, and I decided to pare the story down to make it tighter and more exciting. This decision became a more viable option when I decided to self-publish on Amazon. Authors self-publishing on Amazon do not have to adhere to word counts required by most paper publishers.

The picture to the left was "borrowed" to show a female wizard with a fireball. I will obtain an original digital picture of Tena throwing her own fireball. I might add that Tena has dark hair, olive hued skin, and is fully dressed.

The Anima by Lucas White - free werewolf short story

Monday, April 9, 2012

Frank, deceived by the demon, opens the door and all hell breaks loose.

“Frank, I told you not to unlock the door,” Nessa said.

When the demon turned to face her, she reached inside her pocket and withdrew gold powder she threw at it. The demon put its hands in front of its face and shook its head. Nessa threw more powder at the creature and chanted in Latin. The Huli Jing was unable to move, and smoke came off its body and arms. She threw more powder on the demon while she continued chanting. The demon, covered in the fine gold powder, hunched its shoulders while contracting into a tighter mass. As it did so, the smoke continued to increase.

Nessa pulled a silver dagger out of her coat and stabbed the demon in the chest. It emitted a loud, “Hhhhcccchhh,” sound. Greenish fluid flowed down its chest, but the hole made by the knife closed up.

She stabbed at it again. This time the demon grabbed the end of the dagger, broke it off, and tossed it away. Nessa clenched her fist.

The Huli Jing shook its body. Some of the fine gold powder flew into the air, and smoke coming off it decreased. The demon became brighter and brighter, until it was almost impossible to look at. The creature hissed at Nessa, and she bared her fangs and snarled.

Her knees buckled, and she pulled her cape over her head. The light created by the demon intensified, and Nessa fell backward into what remained of the doorway. The demon struggled to move towards her, hindered by the remaining golden dust on it.
