Unholy Embrace a vampire novel - in the eyes of a vampire

mortal man meets a beautiful immortal vampire

A mortal, Frank, enters a wannabe vampire bar in Manhattan and finds himself scrutinized by a beautiful real vampire.
“You're not an overgrown boy or a self-styled stud eager to add me to his sexual trophy case.”
“You can tell that just by looking at me?”
“That and much more.”
“Okay, tell me what you know.” Her gaze caught mine as I issued the challenge.
“You're an architect in his mid-thirties who would rather be a painter,” she said without hesitation. She leaned back in her chair, steepling her fingers, her bright green eyes studying my every move.
“How do you know that?” Was she a mind reader or something?“There are traces of light green ocher paint under the nails of your index and middle fingers on your right hand.” I couldn't see anything, even when I held my nails under a light.
“I have excellent vision, especially at night.”
“There's nothing there to see,” I said.
“You failed to wash off all the ocher and pale yellow egg tempera paint you used.” She licked her lips.
Nessa had just described the colors I had been working with earlier in the evening. “I don't know how you guessed what I was using, but there's no way anyone could see the paint in this dim light.”
“A vampire could.” She leaned forward, opening her mouth, and showing the tips of sharp pointed fangs.
“Are those real?” I asked in a voice barely a croak. My heart beat faster and the hairs on the nape of my neck stood up.

Unholy Embrace - an encounter with a vampire

Frank, a tall, young architect who learns that the beautiful woman met at a bar is a real vampire. When she suggests they go back to his place, he agrees. Once there, he questions his sanity in spending the evening with her.

“You’re an exceptional man.” Her gaze caught mine, telling me that she was not playing any more.
“That’s quite a compliment.” I got the impression she measured me in ways I didn't understand.
“May I look through your library?” she asked, examining my bookcases.
“Sure.” I was uneasy with her tendency to ask permission after the fact.
She looked at the titles for several minutes then pulled out Dr. Bova’s book on immortality and extending life. “Immortal life holds a fascination for you,” she said. “You’ll find living a long time doesn’t bring the answers to the questions you seek.”
“Am I to assume you know that from personal experience?”
She put her finger under my chin and kissed me on the lips. “I’ve seen the passing of more seasons then you could ever imagine. Perhaps, if I like you, I’ll tell you about them.”
“That would be interesting.” I'm being seduced by a vampire. Am I out of my freaking mind?
“Hush,” Nessa said, as if she could hear my thoughts. She brushed my cheek with her fingertips, pressed her lips to mine, and parted them with her tongue.

Unholy Embrace a vampire novel - meeting with a vampire in Central Park

Frank  gets a harsh reminder that walking in Central Park at night can be very dangerous.
When I turned around, Viscount D'Alessio stood ten feet in front of me. The hairs on the back of my neck rose. My body froze and my heart beat against my chest.

“Fancy meeting you here,” he said with a malicious smile.

“What do you want?” My voice cracked. I felt perspiration forming on my forehead.

“An opportunity to chat with you, become better acquainted.” His smile widened, making his teeth more obvious, as he stepped toward me. I looked around and saw no one. I turned and ran, but I hadn't gone ten strides when I found him in front of me.

“Running won't save you, and your precious little tart isn't here to rescue you.” He grabbed my throat before I could take a step, holding me off the ground. “It's time to have the dinner I promised myself the last time we met.”

He pulled me into the bushes when I heard a voice shout, “Stop. Police. Neither of you move.” A large man walked towards us. In his left hand he held his police shield. With his right he pointed a large revolver at us.

“What a bother.” The Viscount tossed me into the bushes. “I'll take care of you next. Make a move and your death will be slow and excruciating.” He raised his hands as he walked towards the officer.

Frank, deceived by the demon, opens the door and all hell breaks loose.

“Frank, I told you not to unlock the door,” Nessa said.

When the demon turned to face her, she reached inside her pocket and withdrew gold powder she threw at it. The demon put its hands in front of its face and shook its head. Nessa threw more powder at the creature and chanted in Latin. The Huli Jing was unable to move, and smoke came off its body and arms. She threw more powder on the demon while she continued chanting. The demon, covered in the fine gold powder, hunched its shoulders while contracting into a tighter mass. As it did so, the smoke continued to increase.

Nessa pulled a silver dagger out of her coat and stabbed the demon in the chest. It emitted a loud, “Hhhhcccchhh,” sound. Greenish fluid flowed down its chest, but the hole made by the knife closed up.

She stabbed at it again. This time the demon grabbed the end of the dagger, broke it off, and tossed it away. Nessa clenched her fist.

The Huli Jing shook its body. Some of the fine gold powder flew into the air, and smoke coming off it decreased. The demon became brighter and brighter, until it was almost impossible to look at. The creature hissed at Nessa, and she bared her fangs and snarled.

Her knees buckled, and she pulled her cape over her head. The light created by the demon intensified, and Nessa fell backward into what remained of the doorway. The demon struggled to move towards her, hindered by the remaining golden dust on it.

Review of Unholy Embrace by Aymee Bitten by Books

Review of Unholy Embrace by Neil Benson

Frank Thornton never believed in the supernatural until the night he met Nessa. From that night on, the night she confessed to being a vampire, his life ceased to be simple. Between nights of exotic sex, battles with werewolves, and an epic battle for survival, they learn more and more about one another and findthat true love can cross all barriers.

Despite the fact that both Frank and Nessa are your average kind of characters, the kind that can be found in nearly any vampire novel – he’s the disbeliever, she’s the been-there-seen-that vampiress – they both possess strong character and an intriguing story. Frank is an honest and down-to-earth kind of guy with a protective streak that very well may get him killed before long. He’s willing and practically able to do anything and everything needed to keep her by his side, vampire or not. He’s steadfast and completely, totally smitten with her.

She’s got a history longer than that of the United States and yet she notonly brings Frank home but also decides she wants – and needs – to keep him around for the long term. She can be cold and aloof when she needs to be but, when it comes to Frank, she’s all his. Together, they make a deadly team, fighting werewolves, demons, and a psychotic, spurned vampire that’s been haunting Nessa for centuries. And when they’re alone, they explode with passion and desire so hot they nearly combust.

In today’s world, you never quite know what’s lurking in the shadows. Justask Frank Thornton. He started out as an architect to the rich and quickly went from being happily oblivious to fighting a variety of the denizens of the night. However, just so long as he’s fighting alongside his girlfriend, the vampire Nessa, he’s determined to save the world. Unholy Embrace is an enjoyable story that is sure to engage and satisfy any lover of vampire fiction.

Unholy Embrace a Vampire Novel - The "horrific" vampire by Nessa Harcanu 400 year-old vampire

In the vampire novel, Unholy Embrace, the vampire that turned me is described as a horrible looking creature whose facial features bear little resemblance to humanity. While some movies and books have depict vampires as strange looking creatures, this cannot be possible. Vampires are made from humans; therefore, they must look like humans. However, there is an exception. This relates to the stories of the "Pure Bloods," which are thousands of years old.

Much material points to Lilith, Adam's first wife, as the source for vampires. According to a number of sources, Lilith was made the first wife of Adam. These sources claim that Lilith was fashioned from the earth at either the same time as Adam, or before Adam. This made Lilith Adam's equal. Lilith refused to lie on her back while Adam took the dominant position in sex (missionary style). Lilith believed they should make love as equals. Adam was against this, wanting his wife to be submissive, and Lilith left the Garden of Eden rather than comply.
Adam complained to God, who allegedly sent Angels to talk to Lilith telling her to comply. It is reported she refused, and as a result, the Angels killed her children. Lilith sought revenge by taking the form of a serpent who seduced Eve to eat the fruit of knowledge. When Adam and Eve were expelled from the Garden of Eden, Adam endured a period of celibacy as penance. During this time, Lilith was reported to have caused nocturnal emissions from Adam. She collected his semen and impregnated herself with it, giving birth to demons. These children of Lilith called Lilin or Lilim, "night-demons," or the modern term, vampires.
It is my strong belief, that in some fashion, Lilith became the mother of the first vampires, referred to as Pure Bloods, a term found in Ancient Babylonian Tablets. I have not been able to find any sources explaining why Lilith's progeny developed horrible, nonhuman appearances.
