The Vampire Maid by Hume Nisbet - Free Vampire Horror Short Story

The Vampire Maid by Hume Nisbet is a classic horror story. There are all sorts of advantages to having a maid, such as being served, and having someone to clean up. However, sometimes the maid is not the prim and proper lady we expect her to be. In fact, she may be something out of our worst nightmares.

My Red-haired Lover A - dark poem of vampire love by Neil Benson

My Red-haired Lover

Bright red hair caught my eye.
A sly, fey smile drew me in.  Musky fragrance made me reel.
My mind was not my own.
She took my hand in hers,
and led me to her car.
As we drove into the night,
her fingers played with my thigh.
She led me into her home,
and pulled my face to hers.
Cool lips pressed against mine.
Her tongue caressed my mouth.
Hot passion burnt my soul.
She took me to the bedroom.
As her dress fell to the floor,
she pulled me to her breasts.
Soon my clothes were gone.
She stroked me with her hand,
then took me in her mouth.
My body became red hot.
To bed she pulled me down,
and eased me into her.
As ecstasy drove me mad,
her fangs entered my neck.
I cried out in pain and joy.
She whispered you are mine.
I said I was her slave.
Her lover for all time.

"I'm a two hundred fifty year-old vampire" excerpt from Dark Journeys anthology

Excerpt from A Problem with Werewolves. Dan's girlfriend presents him with an unpleasant surprise.

Monique stepped back, and her eyes captured mine. “I’m a vampire.”

A three-word statement of the impossible, I thought. I searched her face but failed to detect any sign that she was joking or subjecting me to some test.

“I’m a two-hundred-and-fifty-year-old vampire. I was born in a small chateau not far from Grenoble. A distant relative attacked me when I was thirty years old and made me into an undead creature. After that horrible evening, I lost my husband and two daughters. They were eleven and seven.”

I couldn’t swallow, and my racing pulse thrummed throughout my body. Her serious manner didn't change. I looked at the remaining whiskey and downed it in one gulp. Though the room was chilly, perspiration formed on my forehead. This isn’t real, I thought.

Eternal Lovers - poem of vampire lovers by Neil Benson

Eternal Lovers -

From the moment I awake,
my thoughts are of you.
You took my life,
and made me immortal.

Our lives are entwined,
never to part.
Together in bed,
always so close.

You turn to face me,
and my love pours forth.
When you touch my face,
our loving begins.

Your tender kiss,
a nectar of sweet love.
The caress of my body,
sets me aflame.

Our passion grows greater,
at the press of our breasts.
You touch me deeply,
and I'm open to you.

Your fangs flick lightly,
on my sensitive core.
Only a moment more,
and sweet ecstasy is mine.

Now my turn to pleasure you,
and our love is complete.

The Dark Network - for people who live an alternative lifestyle and interested in vampires and the paranormal

I found the a VAMPIRE RAVE website in my endless search for interesting vampire pictures. This is a site for people into the vampire lifestyle. Press on the logo to get there.

"Vampire Rave is the social networking website for vampires and goths. We are a home for real vampires across the globe. If you're looking for a darker gothic or vampire social network, you've found it."

From the above website I followed a link to The Dark Network website. I copied the introduction of the founder/owner for the website below. Press the logo to get there.

"My name is Cancer. I founded the Dark Network and all affiliated websites. I have been an active member of the gothic community since 1994. I have worked since that time to bring dark resources online. My first venture was an Undernet IRC chat room called #vampires back in 1994. In 1999 I launched Vampire Radio. In 2003 I began production on the webzine Acrimony. In 2004 I started Vampire Rave.

The Dark Network grew out of a number of needs that I identified as surrounding the gothic/punk/rivethead/alternative communities. It is an ever-expanding project that will continue throughout my life."
Cancer 's statement speaks for itself. If you are part of the lifestyles described above, and this is a site you should visit. If you cringe at the sight of someone with purple and black hair, it is  imperative for you to visit the site.

The Glamour by Lord Byron -

The Glamour, 1813 by Lord Byron is a poem to be savored. The vampire is depicted in its timeless evil by the great poet.
Poems and stories about vampires migrated northward from the Balkans into Germany and Austria in the 17th and 18th century. They moved to the west into France and England in the early 19th century.

But first on this earth as vampire sent,
Thy corpse shall from tomb be rent:
Then ghastly haunt thy native place,
And suck the blood of all thy race;
There from thy daughter, sister, wife,

At midnight drain the stream of life;
Yet loathe the banquet which perforce
Must feed thy livid living corpse.
Thy victims are they yet expire
Shall know the demon for the  ire,
George Gordon, lord Byron (1788–1824).

As cursing thee, thou cursing them,
Thy flowers are withered on the stem

A Recent Review of Dark Journeys

Below is a review of  Dark Journeys taken off Amazon.com.

"Dark Journeys by Neil Benson is an anthology of dark poetry and short stories. The poems are romantic and chilling. The poems read slower than the short stories as you absorb the subtle nuances and emotions.

The short stories should be read when you're prepared to stay awake listening for the creak of a door and lithe, resolute feet that don't belong...feet hundreds of years old. Will the vampire choose you? Look over your shoulder...tonight.

Here are a few great turns of phrase from the anthology:

"A tall, horrid creature arises, and greets the night with a howl."

"At more than three hundred pounds, he knew he shouldn't eat sugary treats, but his resistance to the temptation was lower than his intelligence."

"His eyes darted about like two small marbles bouncing on an interstate highway."

"They looked like cylindrical silver jewels rather than instruments of death."

If you want to know where these tantalizing tidbits originate, you'll just have to buy Dark Journeys by Neil Benson. Fantasy isn't just for children.

I gave it four stars--I would have liked the stories to drag out the suspense with more details. Vampire lovers will find Dark Journeys to be a fun and spine tingling read.
